Cosens MMA Announces October 30 “Halloween Beatdown” Fight Line Up

BAY CITY — Cosens MMA of Bay City, in association with Blackout Cage Fighting, LLC., today announced a portion of its “Halloween Beatdown,” fight card, including Cosens MMA founder Charlie “Bone Crusher” Cosens in the main event of the evening. The fights will be held at the Michigan National Guard Armory at 2510 Wilder Road in Bay City, Friday, October 30, 2009. The Armory is directly across from the Cosens MMA training facilities. Doors open at 7:00 p.m. and fights start at 8:00 p.m.


“I could not be more thrilled about the location and fight line-up for this event,” said Charlie Cosens. “Not only are we fighting in my hometown, we are honored to do so at the Michigan National Guard Armory. Cosens MMA is a military friendly gym. We hold America’s servicemen and women in the highest regard,” he added.


Among Team Cosens fighters is United States Marine and Iraq War combat veteran Bill Fent, a 170-pound striker with a 6-1 record. Fent’s strength in the cage has actually led to an opponent’s “submission” before the fight even began. Last summer in Midland Fent won his fight by default. His opponent showed up at the event but ultimately could not summon the courage to enter the cage and face Fent.


“I am confident my Halloween Beatdown battle will be different,” said Fent. I’ll be squaring off against an undefeated fighter from Midland in what is sure to be a three-round war.”


He is not the only fighter from Team Cosens taking on a Midland opponent. Indeed, an undercurrent running through the October 30 event is a regional rivalry. At least nine of the scheduled fights involve a shootout between Bay City and Midland-based fighters. The abridged fight card is as follows:

Wes Dinan (2-0) Bay City versus Rob Delgado (0-0) Midland – 205 pound division;

Brandon Guoan (1-1) Bay City versus Dustin Vallery (0-1-1) Midland – heavyweight;

Isaac Babinski (1-1) Bay City versus Nick Thirlby (0-4) Midland – 170 pound division;

Tom Kiningham (0-0) Bay City versus Matt Trasker (0-1) Midland – 145 pound division;

Mike Martinez (0-1) Bay City versus Mike Gauthier (0-0) Midland – 155 pound division.
